Does it have to be exactly 20 minutes?
What if my recording is shorter?
A shorter recording is fine and counts as your one free recording. Book writing depends on the words, rather than the minutes: your free book needs 1,200–4,000 words of your own material. If the transcript is too short, add your own notes in Make Book before starting.
What if my recording is longer?
For free transcription, select a section of 20 minutes or less before starting. An imported selection over 20 minutes is refused with guidance to shorten it or connect a paid plan. On Mac, a live free recording stops at 20 minutes. Paid subscriptions include unlimited local transcription.
What if my text is longer than the free-book limit?
Reduce it to about 4,000 words or less. Set the book target to 6,000 words / 25 pages or less and choose no more than four chapters. The app checks these limits before writing begins.
